This fish, whose head so closely resembles a berry, is not found in rivers or lakes. The black oranda was bred in China specifically for keeping in aquariums as an ornamental goldfish variety.
It grows to 18–26 cm. It has a short, egg-shaped body with numerous wart-like growths covering almost the entire head and elongated fins.
